Samsung Bio Processor: This cool wearable helps you track your correct Body Fat

As each tech company tries to dominate the market, we see different inventions aimed directly at achieving this objective. Technology is driven by innovation and these companies try to come out with something new all the time. Samsung has been working on a bio-processor and this isn’t the Exynos processors you have in mobile devices, it’s a bio-processor that’s going to help in health and fitness monitoring.

Most smartwatches and wearables have fitness tracking features and quite a lot of them have heart-rate monitors but the new bio-processor by Samsung is going to take this to a whole new level. This processor will be able to measure body fat, and skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, heart rhythm, skin temperature and stress level.

According to an article on Samsung’s official website, Ben K. Hur, Vice President of marketing, System LSI business at Samsung Electronics said:

With improvements in smart, fitness devices and an increase in consumer health consciousness, more and more people are looking for ways to monitor various personal bio-data, or fitness data, to constantly manage their health. Samsun’s Bio-Processor, which can process five different biometric signals, is the most versatile health and fitness monitoring chip available on the market today and is expected to open up many new health-based service options for our customers.

To be able to measure bio-signals without any other additional external device, the bio-processor uses Analog Front Ends (AFE) together with microcontroller unit (MCU), power management integrated circuit (PMIC), digital signal processor (DSP), and eFlash memory.

It’s not known yet if this bio-processor will only be used in Samsung’s wearables or the processor will be sold to other companies as well.

The bio-processor will be so small it’s going to rightly fit into wearables and it promises to deliver so much. Whether it’s going to be totally reliable is one thing no one can guess for now.
